Also live now via auto-update is the Allegiance Update for Thrones of Britannia. This major overhaul updates and rebalances many areas of the game based on player feedback. Introducing greater depth and granularity to politics, improved battle AI and a new system for issuing decrees, the update also heralds the new Allegiance mechanic – a system which simulates the trials facing a faction that expands to capture new territory. The Anglo-Saxon era was truly a brutal one, and not just on the battlefield. Spare a thought for hapless Edmund Ironside, whose brief seven-month tenure as King of England was cut cruelly short on 30^th November, 1016. No glorious death in combat for our Edmund. However, he was knifed on the privy. What a way to descend from the throne.
